Happy Birthday Virat Kohli:

Team India’s former captain and star batsman Virat Kohli, one of the best batsmen in the world, turned 34 today, on November 5. Kohli is currently a part of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup where his performance has been very good. Virat Kohli has so far scored 220 runs in four matches and got out on only one occasion. Kohli is expected to perform well in the coming matches as well.

1. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, the Indian Under-19 team won the World Cup in 2008. This tournament was played in Malaysia. On the basis of this brilliant performance, Kohli played his first international match for Team India against Sri Lanka on 18 August 2008.

Virat Kohli was born on 5 November 1988 in a middle class family. Virat is originally from Katni in Madhya Pradesh (MP). Kohli had a deep connection with Madhya Pradesh. Virat’s grandfather had come to Katni at the time of partition. But Virat’s father Prem Kohli had come to Delhi with the family.

2. Virat Kohli is the second youngest cricketer to lead the team in the Deodhar Trophy final. He was 21 years and 124 days old when he led Northern Zone in the finals of the 2009–10 season. Three years ago, Shubman Gill (20 years and 57 days) broke Virat’s record.

3. Virat Kohli is the first batsman to score 20,000 international runs in a decade. The 34-year-old Virat achieved this feat in the West Indies tour of India in the year 2019. On that tour, the Indian cricketer made this record in the third match of the ODI series. He scored an unbeaten 114 off 99 balls in the match.

5. Virat Kohli is the fastest batsman to score 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year. He achieved this feat in 11 innings. He surpassed Hashim Amla, who completed 1000 runs in 15 innings.

6. Virat Kohli is the first player to score three consecutive centuries in ODIs against two teams. Kohli scored 133*, 108 and 106 against Sri Lanka between February 2012 and July 2012. Then in 2018 he scored 140, 157* and 107 against West Indies.

7. Virat Kohli is the only cricketer to win all ICC annual individual awards in a year. Following his impressive performance in 2018, Kohli was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, ICC Test and ODI Player of the Year.

Due to this passion for Virat’s cricket, his father Prem Kohli started getting him cricket training at the age of 9. Virat’s father took him to the West Delhi Cricket Academy for the first time by sitting on a scooter.

8. Kohli has scored the most runs in a calendar year as a captain. This right-handed batsman scored 1460 runs in 2017. During this, he batted at an average of over 75 in 26 ODIs. The previous record was held by Australia’s Ricky Ponting, who scored 1,424 runs in 2007.

9. Despite India’s exit in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019, Virat Kohli became the first captain to score five consecutive half-centuries in this great match of cricket. He scored 82, 77, 67 and 72 against Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and West Indies.

10. Virat Kohli is the first Test captain to score 1000 runs in three consecutive calendar years. Kohli scored 1215 runs in 2016, 1059 runs in 2017 and 1322 runs in 2018. 11. Virat Kohli scored the most double centuries as a Test captain.

12. The record of scoring the most runs in a season of IPL is in the name of Virat Kohli. He scored 973 runs in IPL 2016.

13. Kohli made the fastest 3000 ODIs as captain. He took 49 innings to accomplish this feat and in the process surpassed his former RCB player AB de Villiers and former Indian captain MS Dhoni.

14. Kohli has scored 11 centuries in a calendar year of international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him, who scored 12 centuries in 1998. Kohli had scored 11 centuries in 2018.

15. Virat Kohli also holds the record for making the highest ODI score as a captain in the West Indies. Three years ago, in the second ODI of the series against the West Indies, he scored 120 runs in 125 balls.

In the CB series played in the year 2012 itself, Kohli achieved the target in 36.4 overs, proving the target of 321 runs given by Sri Lanka as dwarf. Kohli played an unbeaten innings of 133 runs. His innings earned him recognition as the best run chaser.

16. In 2018, Kohli became the fastest captain to score 4000 Test runs. He touched this milestone in his 65th innings. The previous record was held by Brian Lara, who took 71 innings to achieve this feat. 17. Kohli holds the record for most ODI centuries against Australia at home. Five of his eight centuries against the Australian team have come in India (in 18 ODIs).

On 30 September 2012, Kohli played a brilliant innings of 78 runs against Pakistan in the World T20 match and led Team India to victory.

18. Kohli is the fastest cricketer to reach 30 and 35 ODI centuries. Kohli scored 30 centuries in 186 innings, while Sachin Tendulkar played 267 innings. Kohli’s 35th ODI century came in his 200th innings.

19. Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs while chasing a target in T20 Internationals. He overtook Brendon McCullum, who scored 1006 runs.

20. Virat Kohli is the first player to score three consecutive centuries in ODIs as a captain.

21. Kohli has an excellent record chasing the target of 350 and above. India has so far managed to chase down the score above 350 on three occasions and the former Indian captain has scored hundreds on all three occasions.

Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Team India created history by winning the Test series in Sri Lanka after 22 years. In 2015, Virat Brigade won the Test series by 2-1.

22. Kohli dismissed former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen in the T20 International match in 2011. The ball went to the leg side and came out wide, but Pietersen failed to reach the crease due to Dhoni’s superb stumping.

23. Kohli made his World Cup debut in 2011. He scored a century in that match against Bangladesh. He became the first Indian to score a century in the very first match of the World Cup.

24. Virat Kohli is the first Indian to score a century against Pakistan in the World Cup. He scored 107 runs in 126 balls against Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup.

25. Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in a bilateral ODI series. He scored 558 runs in 6 matches against South Africa in February 2018.

26. Kohli is also the first batsman to score 500 runs in a bilateral ODI series.


In December 2017, Kohli married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. Anushka and Virat have a friendship since childhood. Not only this, Anushka used to play a lot of cricket with Kohli in her childhood. Anushka Sharma’s father has been an army officer and during that time Anushka’s brother Karnesh used to play cricket. Virat also used to play with him.

27. Kohli holds the record for most centuries in an IPL edition. The RCB captain had scored four centuries in 2016.

28. During the 2019 Test series against South Africa, Virat Kohli became the captain with the most follow-ons. Kohli gave the follow-on for the 8th time as India’s captain, while Azharuddin did so 7 times.

29. Kohli has the highest 150+ scores in Tests as a captain. He crossed the 150-run mark nine times. Sir Donald Bradman was able to do this only on eight occasions.

30. Virat, as an Indian batsman, has left behind Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar (6-6) in the case of most double centuries in Test cricket. Kohli has 7 double centuries in 102 Tests.

31. Kohli is the only batsman to score the fastest 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000 runs in ODIs.

32. Virat Kohli is the only batsman in the history of Test cricket to score four double centuries in four consecutive series.

33. Virat Kohli is the highest run scorer in the history of T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli has scored 1065 runs in 25 matches in T20 World Cup.

34. Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in T20 International. Kohli has so far played 113 matches in T20 Internationals, in which he has scored 3932 runs in 105 innings. During this, Kohli scored a century and 36 half-centuries.
