Dhaka – After Virat Kohli’s century and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took five wickets, India beat Afghanistan by a wide margin of 101 runs in the Super Four of the Asia Cup.

Chasing a huge winning target of 212 runs for victory, Afghanistan could score only 111 runs, losing 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Ibrahim Zadran scored the highest 64 runs for him.

Similarly, apart from Rashid Khan scoring 15 runs and Mujeeb ur Rehman scoring 18 runs, none of the other batsmen of Afghanistan could score runs in double figures.

India’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar took a record 5 wickets to stop Afghanistan cheaply. He bowled 4 overs and took 5 wickets with 1 maiden at the expense of only 4 runs. This is his best performance in T20 Internationals. Similarly, Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and Deepak Hooda took one wicket each.

Before that, India lost the toss and scored 212 runs in the scheduled 20 overs losing 2 wickets.

India’s Virat Kohli played an unbeaten innings. Playing 61 balls, he played an unbeaten century innings of 122 runs with 12 fours and 6 sixes.

This is the first century of Kohli’s T20I career. This is the 71st century of his international career. It is also the highest score scored by a single batsman in a T20I match by India. Earlier in 2017, Rohit Sharma scored 118 runs against Sri Lanka.

Kohli hit Farid Ahmed for a six off the second ball of the 19th over to hit his maiden international century. Kohli completed his century in 53 balls.

Earlier, captain Lokesh Rahul was dismissed for 62 off 41 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Rahul captained India when Rohit Sharma was rested. For the first wicket, Rahul and Kohli got off to a great start with a century partnership of 119 runs in 12.4 overs. When Surya Kumar Yadav was out for 6 runs. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 20 runs off 16 balls with 3 fours.

For Afghanistan, Farid Ahmed took 2 wickets for 57 runs in 4 overs.

Both India and Afghanistan have already been eliminated from the Super Four. In the first match of the Super Four, India lost to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets and Pakistan by 5 wickets.

Similarly, Afghanistan lost the first match against Sri Lanka by 4 wickets and the second match against Pakistan by 1 wicket. Sri Lanka and Pakistan will face each other in the final match of Super Four under the tournament today. Both teams will compete for the title on Sunday.
