Dhaka -NRNA Academy has made a winning start in men’s cricket under the 9th National Games 2079. Sudurpaschim Pradesh was defeated by 12 runs in the opening match on Thursday. Chasing the target of 75 runs given by NRNA at the Trivi Cricket Ground, Sudurpaschim scored only 62 runs after losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 6 overs.
The match started late due to rain and was finished in 6 overs. For Sudurpaschim, Khadak Bohra scored 12 runs while Raju Rizal added 11 runs. On the other hand, Ashish Pokharel and Deepak Chhetri took three wickets each for NRNA.
Earlier NRNA won the toss and batted first and scored 74 runs after losing 4 wickets in 6 overs. Sagar Pun scored an unbeaten 46 for NRNA. Captain Sunam Gautam scored 24 runs.
On the other hand, Hemant Dhami and Sher Malla took two wickets each for Sudurpaschim. With the win, NRNA has added 2 points in the first game. Both the matches scheduled at Moolpani Cricket Ground under the tournament have been cancelled. On the other hand, the second match, which was supposed to be played at the University Cricket Ground, ended without a toss.
11 teams from seven provinces, three departments and one NRNA team are participating in the competition.
