It was expected that a decision on the political crisis in Rajasthan would be taken after the election of the Congress President, but now the leaders seem busy in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections.
The new Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has taken over, but the Rajasthan issue is yet to be resolved. Meanwhile, new tension seems to be rising between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Now Pilot has targeted Gehlot, due to which political discussions have intensified. It is being said that due to non-receipt of reply from Kharge, now the pilot camp also seems to be busy in final efforts.
On Wednesday, Pilot referred to senior leader KC Venugopal’s statement and said, “The time has come to end the atmosphere of indecision from Rajasthan.” On September 29, Venugopal had said that the then president Sonia Gandhi would take a decision on the Rajasthan chief minister’s candidature in two days. Ahead of the Congress president’s election, Rajasthan MLAs, who were said to be Gehlot supporters, had offered to resign amid reports of Pilot’s possible candidature.
Meanwhile, Pilot also demanded action against the MLAs who had allegedly boycotted the legislature party meeting held on September 25. Congress had issued notices against Shantilal Dhariwal, Mahesh Joshi and Dharmendra Rathore.
The former deputy chief minister said, “Congress is an old party and same rules and discipline apply to all. The observers appointed by the party in Rajasthan have already made their point and three MLAs have also received notices. But now the time has come for Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to take a decision in this matter at the earliest. I hope he will do so.
Keep calm. Why did the pilots split up?
It has been more than a month since Venugopal spoke. It was expected that a decision on this matter would be taken after the election of the President, but now the leaders seem busy in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections. Here, Rahul Gandhi is also in India Jodo Yatra. In such a situation, the restless pilots have once again come on the front foot. He has made it clear from the statements that he will not tolerate the current situation in Rajasthan.
It is being said that retaining Gehlot as CM for the pilot camp and declaring Pilot as the chief ministerial candidate next year may remove the anger of the youth towards senior leaders and sympathy towards the young leader. Here, the pilot camp also believes that if the Congress has to break the cycle of 30 years and return to the government again, then change is needed and that change is to make Pilot the CM.
one more message
A message is also seen in this entire development that only one year is left for the assembly elections in the state and the party will have to settle the issue of CM. Elections will be held in the state in December 2023. At present, there are 106 of the Congress, 71 of the Bharatiya Janata Party, 3 of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, 2 of the CPI(M), 2 of the Bharatiya Tribal Party, 1 of the Rashtriya Lok Dal and 13 independents in the assembly.
Why is Kharge a big challenge?
Apart from the assembly elections, the Rajasthan crisis is also a big challenge in front of the senior leader who took over the leadership of the party recently. The special thing is that the resignations of the MLAs of Gehlot camp are still with Speaker CP Joshi and Joshi is considered close to the CM. Now Gehlot is also famous for playing the right political bets. In such a situation, the party president will have to find a solution that does not affect the state unit.
Why was Venugopal not accepted?
Venugopal had instructed party leaders to refrain from speaking against other party leaders or internal matters. However, on October 2 itself, Gehlot targeted Pilot and the then in-charge of the state, Ajay Maken, without naming them. On October 17 too, he questioned the young leader with gestures and said that there is no substitute for experience.
Now after the failed rebellion in 2020, Pilot was also cautious about his statements in front of the public, but on Wednesday, he has increased political stirring with the statement.
