Kolkata-based private sector big bank Bandhan Bank has appointed former Indian cricket team captain cricketer Sourav Ganguly as its brand ambassador. This was announced by the bank on Thursday.

Announcing Sourav Ganguli as the brand ambassador, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, CEO and MD of Bandhan Bank said that Ganguly was instrumental in transforming the Indian cricket team in the early 2000s. Through this partnership, the bank will be able to take forward its growth story.

“You can’t play all the time,” Ganguly said on the sidelines of a Bandhan Bank event here. Can’t always be an administrator either, but both enjoyed the job. It was interesting to see both sides of the coin. Will do something bigger in future.’ He said, ‘I was the administrator of cricketers. So much cricket is happening that decisions have to be taken. There is so much money attached to it. There is women’s cricket, there is domestic cricket. Sometimes decisions have to be taken.

Ganguly first came into cricket administration as the secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal. He became its president in September 2015 after the death of Jagmohan Dalmiya.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “We are not directly commenting on the matter but since the BJP campaigned like this during and after the elections, it will definitely be the responsibility of the BJP to stop such speculation.” Reply to (that there is politics behind Ganguly not getting a second term as BCCI chief).
